Running from September 2007 to July 2008, the Year of Food and Farming is a campaign to promote healthy living by giving children first-hand experience of food, farming and the countryside, primarily through opportunities to visit farms, and to grow and cook foods.
At Wiltshire College Lackham the aim is for children to see for themselves what happens on a farm, to see the high level of animal welfare, and to recognise that farmers are equally concerned about these issues and others, including the environment. We particularly wish to show children from an urban background what life is like in the countryside.
